#13 Tutorial on what to do when shit hits the fan
October 11, 2026
it's 6:30 am and I can't sleep.
things are confusing... i guess this just happens when your self worth is tied to your work. something you've been working on tirelessly for the past month, the value you thought you were creating becomes zero. Psychologists call it contingent self-worth: your value goes up and down with your output. It’s a great engine and a terrible foundation. sometimes things dont go the way I want them to.
what to do when it's an exam you've been studying for so long gets cancelled? what to do when a product you thought would break the market gets wiped out because of policies you couldn't control? what to do when a client you've been working for goes with someone else? what then?
what do you do when the thing that made you feel purposeful turns out to be completely wrong.
find the next thing and keep working.
find the next thing. and keep working.
the project didn't make you who you are, you made the project. you can keep making more.
what did you learn from the last one? rectify and keep going.
