#10 "One big win beats a thousand small"

a note to my ex (non personal obviously)
hey, I guess I'm still blocked so I'm kind of typing this for myself but I won a hackathon yesterday and I was recollecting things to write in my journal and I remembered this reel, a man says, fly like an eagle not a sparrow. he explains how a sparrow flaps so many times, spends so much energy just to be airborne, but since it has shorter wing span it has no leverage. an eagle, however, takes one big flap and soars higher than a sparrow can ever reach... then it takes another big flap, even higher. another flap, and now it's higher than any bird has ever been. and... I was so drawn to this reel because I was the sparrow. I was doing so many things. Trying to stay afloat. But the past few months... I've become something else. And yesterday was it. I had been studying 14 hours a day for the IIT degree and for this hackathon I worked 36 hours straight out of 48 and won that shit. The big flap. But I still do other stuff to get recognized by, it hasn't gone anywhere (guitar and art, for those who don't know). And I think you remember what memory I'm talking about. Your exact words were to do something big first, and you'll still have other things to do after. On that terrace. It's a nice feeling to remember I had met someone so mature I couldn't understand what she meant. But I guess I do now. You might have said it unknowingly, but I'm glad I met you. You set the bar high but wrong person I guess. I mean me, I am still wrong, but I'm like happy n stuff. anyway, I also do a little writing, quotes etc. and I'm gonna say the source of this was you (not in the literal sense, "someone who was dear to me" would do fine)

Bye, be well.
